Allendale Recreation Commission

The Allendale Recreation Commission is a self-sustaining non-profit organization that was established to sponsor youth recreation programs for children in grades kindergarten through eighth who resides in Allendale.  The A.R.C. is also an affiliate chapter of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association.  The organization's goals are to encourage the interest, knowledge and participation in each with the emphasis on having fun.  It is staffed entirely by volunteer parents and is responsible for baseball, softball, kickball, soccer and basketball programs.  General meetings are held quarterly and parents are encouraged to attend.  Your support is appreciated.

XYZ Senior Citizens Club of Allendale

The XYZ Club meets the first and third Friday of each month at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Lutheran CHurch.  As each meeting, the members have lunch and enjoy playing cards and other smiliar games as well as other special programs with guest speakers.  Other XYZ activities include day bus trips to points of interest in the surrounding area.  For more information contact Mary McRay at (201) 962-2132.

The Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Allendale Branch
The Allendale branch is one of fourteen branches of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary - an organization dedicated to providing volunteer service, community liaison and financial support to the hospital.  Monthly meetings are held in the homes of members from September through June. In addition to providing volunteer support to the hospital, the Allendale branch provides financial support through several fundraising events.  The branch meetings, which often feature a guest speaker, provide a wonderful opportunity to socialize with other members while planning upcoming events. VFW Post 10181

The members of VFW Post 10181 is open to honorably discharged veteran of a foreign war.  Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at the Calvary Lutheran Church.  For information call Commander Ernest Cassidy at (201) 825-0718.

Volunteer Center of Bergen County

The Volunteer Center of Bergen County is a private, non-profit organization that recruits, interviews and refers volunteers from the community and workplace to serve over 300 social service and cultural agencies in Bergen County.  Volunteer services are also provided directly by Bureau programs that help abused and neglected children and their families, senior and disabled homeowners and apartment dwellers and nursing home residents.  For more information please call the Executive Director at (201) 489-9445 or fax at (201) 489-1995.

The Junior League of Bergen County

The Junior League of Bergen County, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.  Membership is open to any woman who shares this commitment.  Membership is open to all women ages 18 and older who live in Bergen County or its vicinity.  For information call (201) 447-2292.

Holiday Observers

Established in 1919, the Holiday Observers were formed by a few neighbors who pooled their fireworks together to celebrate the Fourth of July.  Since then, the group organized  and now celebrate most holidays with the residents of Allendale to "provide and encourage patriotic observance of holidays and to install respect amoung our young people of our traditions."  Members must be residents of Allendale.

Generous financial support received from townspeople is returned in full, to the community in the form of recreation, entertainment and assistance in community projects.  Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:30 p.m. at the Borough Hall.

Friends of the Library

Formed in 1971, the Friends of the Library help to raise funds that the Lee Memorial Library uses to purchase books as well as needed equipment.  These funds originate from ongoing book sales as well as donations from residents.  Donations of gently used books are always appreciated.  Anyone wishing to be a member can join by calling the Library at (201) 327-4338.

Allendale Newcomers' Club

Allendale Woman's Club

The Allendale Woman's Club, formerly the Junior Woman's Club, was founded in 1933 and it is now the fastest growing woman's club in the State.  Membership is open to Allendale residents and you can join at any time.  Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Borough Hall from September through June.

The Allendale Woman's Club supports many regional and local community organizations such as Center for Food Action, Gilda's Club, Smile Forever Foundation, The Center for Women's Heart Health at Valley Hospital, the Allendale Ambulance, Police and Fire Departments, the Library, and the schools.  We have also donated playground and sporting equipment to Crestwood.  Additionally, we award annual scholarships.  We host many social activities for both members and their families.  For additional information please visit the club's website through the following link Allendale Woman's Club

Allendale Historic Preservation

The Allendale Historic Preservation was organized for the purpose of preserving the history of Allendale, as well as gathering and distributing this history to Borough residents.  Anyone is welcome to join.  Please call Tom Robbins at (201) 934-5573.

Allendale Garden Club

The Allendale Garden Club is a social and community service group focusing on gardening and nature.  We meet Sept. through June on the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living Facility on Boroline Road.  Club activities include monthly speakers who address topics such as gardening techniques, environmental concerns and nature-oriented art and creativity.  Evening tours of local gardens are held throughout June.  We also perform community service by donating to local open space and gardening projects.  In addition, many members volunteer their time to plant and maintain flower gardens on town property.  Even if you're not an active gardener, we encourage you to join us as long as you appreciate nature and beauty, you'll find something of interest in the club.  For more information please contact Eleanore at (201) 723-8769 or eljohn@optonline.net.

Allendale Blood Donors Association

The Allendale Blood Donors Association is an organization comprised of resident volunteers that conducts a town wide blood donation drive each year on Election Day.  Working closely with the Bergen Community Blood Center, the Association also arranges for replacement of blood for all residents who need it at no charge.  President is Maria Crean.

Aleoop

Aleooop is a non-profit, quasi-municipal entity serving Allendale for over 14 years.  The program is open to any child eligible for enrollment in the Allendale School District in kindergarten through 8th grades.  Nominal fees are charged, although no child is denied program access due to financial need.

The Aleooop After School Program consists of three eight week sessions during the school year.  Sample courses, generally on hour each for one days a week, included: guitar and piano lessons; babysitting certification; sports training such as soccer and basketball; fencing; magic and arts and crafts.  An Aleooop on-site director manages the program and the professionals and other experts teach the courses.  The After School Program is an easy, safe way to introduce children to enriching opportunities right in the Hillside Elementary School or Brookside Middle School.

The Aleooop Summer Program is coordinated and directed by certified, experienced school teachers who love what they do and is shows.  The program runs for six weeks from 8:45 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Age- appropriate activities make an enjoyable, fun, enriching  and safe summer experience.  Each age group is supervised by a team consisting of a trained head counselor and assistant counselors.  The counselor to child ratio is based on the age group.  Certified teachers run specialty programs including sports, cooking and art.  Children also enjoy Crestwood Lake where they can take swim lessons from certified swim instructors or the can just enjoy free swim.  "Fun Fridays" culminate the week with special activities  and visitors who include the Liberty Science Cent, Outraehisssss Pets and clowns.  The last week of the summer is fun-filled "Olympics" week.  Included in the fee for older children are two local field trips.  A certified registered nurse in on duty every day during the summer!

Allendale Saddle River Rotary Club
The Allendale/Saddle River Rotary Club is part of the Rotary International.  The Rotary International is the world's first service club organization with more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide.

Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.
