Important Information From the Water Department

New water meters have been installed throughout the borough.  These new meters are State of the art technology and provide fair and accurate billing to customers.    In addition, they provide leak detection information by utilizing the meter register in your home.  The new water meters have been factory tested and professionally installed.  You can check the accuracy of the meter by reading the meter, filling a one gallon container 5 times, and then read the meter again.  The meter reading should be five gallons more than the first reading.

The old water meters removed from homes have been tested and results show that some meters on average were inaccurately registering at only 90%-98% of water flowing through the meter.  For example, if 100 gallons of water passed through the meter you may have been billed only for 90 gallons.
