Borough of Allendale Recognizes the Recent Passing of Mayor Albert H. Klomburg

Borough Seal

It's with a heavy heart that the Borough of Allendale recognizes the recent passing of Mayor Albert H. Klomburg.  Mayor Klomburg served our community for over 25 years as a Councilman and Mayor. As Mayor, he represented our community as Chairman of the Northwest Bergen Mayors Association, Bergen County Mayors Association, the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, and the Legislative Committee of the New Jersey League of Municipalities. In recognition of his service, he was inducted into the Elected Officials Hall of Fame for his twenty years of elected service by the New Jersey League of Municipalities.

Mayor Ari Bernstein stated, "Mayor Klomburg set the bar high for those of us who have sat in the Mayor's seat. Every one of us has learned from the examples he set."

Beyond the Council, Mayor Klomburg's dedication to our community was shown in his passion for volunteering. He was a member of the Holiday Observers since 1974 and served as its President in 1983. He has served with distinction as a member of the Northern Highlands Band Parents Association, the Allendale Athletic Association as Vice President (now known as ARC), coached girls' soccer, softball, and basketball for 12 years, and was Chairman of the Allendale Centennial Committee.

Former Mayor Liz White commented, "His love of Allendale was shown throughout his life by his actions and service."

Former Mayor Vincent Barra stated, "This is a sad day for our community. Mayor Klomburg's dedication, integrity, and leadership will forever be remembered here in Allendale."

On behalf of the Borough of Allendale, we send our deepest sympathies to the Klomburg family. We also thank and remember Mayor Albert Klomburg's service and dedication to our community.
