Weather Update #5 9/1/2021 @ 9:30pm - The following roadways are flooded and closed to traffic:

  • West Crescent between Brookside and Myrtle
  • West Allendale Avenue in the area of the ball park 
  • West Orchard Street between Allen Street and Demercurio Drive
  • Franklin Turnpike south of Chestnut Street 
  • MacIntyre Lane between Forest and Brookside

Please help emergency responders and borough public works by staying off the roads. Do not drive into standing water. 

 

Weather Update #4 9/1/2021 @ 9:15pm - Numerous roadways are flooded in town including MacIntyre Lane. Please stay off roads and stay indoors. Heavy rain will continue for hours. 

 

Weather Update #3 9/1/2021 @ 8:40pm As of 8:40pm, West Orchard Street between Allen Street and Demercurio Drive is closed due to flooding underneath the overpass. Police and DPW on scene.

 

Weather Update #2 9/1/2021 @ 8:30pm: As of 8:15pm, West Crescent between West Allendale and Myrtle Avenue is closed due to flooding. The river bank has crested the roadway and the underpass is flooded. Police and DPW on scene. As of 8:25, all other roadways open. 

Weather Update #1 9/1/2021 @ 6:40pm: At 6pm tonight the borough's Emergency Operations Center was activated. Local officials are monitoring Tropical Depression Ida's impact on Allendale. Moderate rain has been falling for the past hour or so, but torrential rain will move in between 7 - 8 PM, lasting for several hours. A Tornado Watch has been issued for Bergen County until 1am. A "Weather Watch" means you should prepare for the possibility of a severe storm or tornado. Basically, the atmospheric conditions are conducive for severe weather to develop. 

Stay indoors, monitor local news outlets and borough communication platforms/social media for updates, and report any dangerous conditions to 9-1-1 immediately.
