A Message from Veolia: West Crescent Well #11

Veolia

Due to increased water demand, West Crescent Well #11 will be activated at noon on Wednesday, June 7, and will remain operational throughout the summer. Residents have previously been informed about the well's PFOA exceedance (Allendale Water System Has Levels of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) Above A Drinking Water Standard | Veolia Water). To address this issue, Veolia is currently in the process of installing a temporary treatment system to reduce PFOA levels until a permanent solution can be implemented. The temporary system is expected to be operational by early fall.

During the initial exceedance last year, the West Crescent Well #11 recorded a test result of 17 ppt. It is worth noting that many water systems in the region continue to provide water with readings exceeding 80 ppt. PFOA contamination is a widespread problem in New Jersey. As part of the acquisition of the Allendale water system by Veolia, significant progress has been made in treating the Allendale wells.
