A Winter Storm Watch Has Been Issued for Our Area: 3/13 - 3/14

Winter Strom Watch

This is an important message on behalf of Mayor Wilczynski, the Borough Council and the entire Emergency Management Team.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for our area.

A noreaster will affect our area from tonight through Tuesday evening. Rain will continue on and off throughout the day Monday. Rain may potentially turn to snow overnight Monday into Tuesday. The snow will change back to rain on Tuesday afternoon before leaving the area. This will be a heavy wet snow.

Slight changes in intensity or track could raise or lower snow amounts as the storm approaches. There is a possibility that the changeover to snow does not occur and we just see rain. There is also a possibility of rapid intensification which will drop 6 inches or more of snow rather quickly.

Temperatures will remain in the 40’s on Monday and drop into the mid 30’s overnight Monday into Tuesday. Temperatures will rise into the upper 30’s again Tuesday afternoon.

Winds will be 10 - 15 MPH with gusts up to 25 MPH. Later on Tuesday winds will be 15 -20 MPH with gusts up to 35 MPH.

Please note that borough ordinance prohibits on-street parking during a snow event. Avoid travel if possible. Vehicles traversing the roadways impedes snow removal operations. Do not approach downed utility wires and notify Orange and Rockland (www.oru.com or 1-877-434-4100) of any power outages. Report downed wires or other emergencies to the Allendale Police by calling 9-1-1.
