The Borough of Allendale is extending the affordability controls on a number of owner-occupied affordable housing units whose initial 30-year control periods are approaching expiration. The Borough of Allendale has officially finalized its Fair Share Housing settlement, securing 10 years of certification and eliminating the threat of builders remedy lawsuits.

Through strategic negotiation and careful planning, the Borough:

• Reduced the State‑assigned affordable housing obligation
• Protected the downtown from high‑density overlay zoning
• Met requirements without any new construction, instead extending existing affordable housing deed restrictions
• Redirected the overlay zone to an already‑established area on Boroline Road
• Resolved challenges with Saddle River
• Secured $500,000 from AvalonBay for off‑site improvements
